Uber Therapy

I got into the car.  He was kind; He was older.  His ebony skin.  Magnificent.  His eyes alive. We small-talked for a bit. We went deeper:

“I love Uber.  You guys get me where I need to go.  I would have to walk over two hours to get to where you are taking me in just a few minutes.”

“Oh yeah, God bless the Uber drivers. Your service is so important.”

He smiled. “Where are you headed tonight?”

“A dance class.  Its only $15 dollars for three hours!  I am so excited.  I still have a dance issue though.”

“What’s that?”

“I had some things happen. Bad things.  It comes back on the dance floor.  My whole body freaks out before I even know what is happening.  It has gotten better but not enough.  It upsets me a lot.”

His eyes got bright.  He started waving a hand around.  His voice, filled with passion. “You got to re-program your mind! You gotta know you are in control!  You gotta know that you can do all things through him who gives you strength! Don’t matter who you are.  Anyone can have it. The mind controls everything. You are going to have a great class tonight!  Say it with me, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT CLASS TONIGHT! And then when it starts to creep in.  That fear. That thing.  You say ugh uh! No! No! No!”

I did say it with him…

In fact, we screamed it: “I am going to have a great DANCE class tonight!”

The angel…
